In February of this year my very dear friend Betty Crawford was assessed as being no longer able to to live alone in her own home. Berry obtained admission to Atawhai Resthome where she settled in very well in light of the love she had for her home and her independence. Betty eventually decided to sell er home and was adamant the sale was to be handled by ‘Coxs’. I was privileged to arrange and attend a meeting with Kelvin Winnie in Betty’s house. At almost 92 years of age, Betty had a happy and successful meeting with Kelvin, filling him in with great detail on the history of her home and the ‘value’ of it! I was so impressed and amazed at the way Kelvin interacted with Betty and his kindness and concern for her. Sadly Betty passed away soon after which then left Fiona and myself responsible for the sale of her home. Kelvin was at all times very professional and honest with us, kept us well informed of any interest shown in the property as did other agents at Cox Partners. In the eventuality of a ‘shocking’ builder’s report obtained by a prospective buyer, we were devastated but thanked God Betty had been spared all that anxiety. I was again amazed at the work Malcolm and Kelvin entered into on our behalf regarding the repairs to be carried out. When we finally decided to sell the property at a reduced figure and for the the purchaser to attend to the repairs, Kelvin was very quickly in touch with the interested party and upon their withdrawal from the contract, he pursued other avenues and presented us with another contract which resulted in the eventual sale. Personally, I cannot thank Kelvin enough for all his time and patience and I wish him every success for the future.
